Your Google profile: a practical accuracy check.

Start with the facts customers need before they call or visit.

Use the business people recognize

Check that the name reflects your real-world business. Google’s guidelines ask businesses to represent themselves accurately and use appropriate categories. Do not add a string of keywords to the name just because you want to rank for them. Read Google’s business representation guidelines.

Check the location and hours

Use the appropriate address or service area for how you operate, and keep regular and special hours accurate. Google identifies complete, accurate information as a useful part of local visibility. See Google’s local ranking guidance.

Walk through the customer journey

Now do your own practical check: imagine a customer trying to call, order, book, or ask for a quote. Open each link as a visitor and make sure it reaches the intended place. Compare the details with your website and any menu or booking page you use. Write down discrepancies before changing anything so the review stays organized.

Choose photos that answer a question

Our suggestion is to choose images that help a new customer understand the experience: the entrance they need to recognize, the service or product they are considering, and relevant details they may ask about. Use real, current material that represents your business. The aim is to replace uncertainty with useful context.

Keep expectations realistic

Google explains that local results depend mainly on relevance, distance, and prominence, and that businesses cannot pay for better organic local ranking. Treat profile maintenance as ongoing care, not a guaranteed shortcut to first place. Read how Google describes local ranking.

Your next move

Make a short list of corrections, assign someone to check them, and note when the information was last reviewed. Revisit it when your hours, services, or booking arrangements change. The goal of this exercise is accurate information and a clearer route for your customers.
